A French painter from the middle to late 19th century. Dastugue was a portrait and genre painter. Often he painted scenes with a story behind the composition, such as this piece. The young girl is pinning a piece of cloth to her dress that the young boy has given her in an act of affection. He also painted throughout the middle east, often painting scenes of everyday life in Northern Africa.
The piece is an oil on canvas and is in excellent condition. It dates from circa 1900.
