Painter
Thomas Buttersworth was a marine painter to the East India Company and was also a sailor at some point during his career. He exhibited from 1813 to 1827 at the Royal Academy and also at Suffolk Street and the British Institution with a painting titled "The Battle of Trafalgar" (appropriately entered from his home address in Trafalgar Street, Walworth, London). Most of the scenes painted by Buttersworth are based on larger ships of the period.
