An English Robin on an Apple Blossom tree
REF: 2046
Painter
Thomas Dingle was an English Victorian painter of animal and landscape scenes. He painted towards the end of the 19th-century in a very traditional Victorian-style. This piece is an oil on panel and is signed bottom right and also inscribed on the reverse with an original label.
The Robin is seated on a branch of an old English apple tree in full blossom. The skill of the artist is obvious with he's use of great color and traditional techniques of glazing a painting in translucent oil over and over again.
This painting is in wonderful condition having been recently cleaned and re-varnished.
The frame is a mid to 20th Century American frame and suits the painting very much.
This is an exceptional painting by the artist and is a rare change of subject from his more traditional landscapes.
With the use of the Robin and the white blossom flowers the painting really is alive and a must for any collector of Victorian paintings.
