A very well-painted Dutch 19th century marine scene. The small boat is full of men who are rowing hard to get to the larger vessels, possibly to either take goods on or off the larger boats.
The artist was a skilled exponent on how to paint the sea and the sky, both of which are painted very well.
The scene is typical of the 19th century Dutch and English marine painters of the time and this example is very well painted. It has a great deal of detail and good quality brush strokes.
The piece has been framed in a vintage English frame.
It is in good condition having just been cleaned and re-varnished.
