English 20th century study of a woodpecker bird

James Williamson-Bell was a respected wildlife artist based in Newcastle and won several medals at the Paris Salon for his bird paintings. He was strongly influenced by Chinese paintings having spent several months living in China.
This is a very highly detailed study of a woodpecker. IT is framed in its original frame and is in excellent condition.
James was a revered member of the Society of Wildlife Artists, and will be sorely missed since his untimely death in January, 2010
