19th century portrait of a young Scottish/British boy in school uniform

REF: 2180

Painter

Well painted 19th-century portrait of a young boy possible in a School Uniform.

With the label on the reverse being from Scottish panel makers, we believe the piece was painted in Scotland circa 1840.

The quality of the face and the overall quality of the piece leads us to believe it was painted by a professional portrait painter rather than an amateur, but so fat we have not been able to identify the artist.

The piece is in great original condition and is framed in a vintage English frame made circa 1900.
